emco IBT - Internal Bond Tester
Scott-Bond method
Internal Bond Strength for paper, paperboard and cardboard
emco IBT - Internal Bond Tester
- Entire equipment with integrated sample preparation
- Scott-Bond method according to TAPPI T 569 and ISO 16260
- For determining of internal bond strength of paper and structural strength at composite materials
With emco IBT an objective quality agreement between customer and supplier with practice-oriented accuracy can be realized.
emco IBT - Internal Bond Tester
emco IBT realizes a dynamic measuring principle to determine the internal bond strength of paper, cardboard and compound systems. Simultaneously all significant influences, sample preparation, climate, adhesive tape, material characteristics of angles and anvils, as well as choosable sample preparation terms (pressure and pressing time) are specified considered.

- Sizing
- Wet strength bonding
emco IBT - Functionality
- Assembling and functionality of this test method for determining the internal bond strength follows TAPPI standard T 569 and ISO 16260 (Scott type).
- The pendulum, with a defined amount of energy, hits against the precision angle whose horizontal part is bonded to the sample.
- While impact of the pendulum the entire surface of the sample is splitted.
emco IBT - Functionality
- The detracted energy of the pendulum correlates with the structural strength (Internal Bond) of the sample.
-
The measuring of the energy absorbed to rupture a specimen will be conducted by two methods:
- Measuring of the amplitude of the pendulum
(potential energy) - Measuring of the velocity of the pendulum
(kinetic energy)
- Measuring of the amplitude of the pendulum
emco IBT - Sample Preparation
- The preparation of a specimen will be performed according to TAPPI T 569 and ISO 16260
- Sample preparation integrated for 5 samples simultaneous (glueing, pressing, cutting)
- A sample of paper or paperboard will be assembled by different layers fixed by double sided adhesive tape.
- The effective area is 25.4 mm x 25.4 mm
(1 inch x 1 inch). - Processor controlled clamping pressure and press time
